International tender issued by Algeria to purchase optional-origin durum wheat -traders

ALGIERS- An international tender has been issued by Algeria’s state grains agency OAIC to purchase a nominal 50,000 tonnes of durum wheat, European traders said on Monday.

The deadline for submissions of price offers in the tender was Wednesday, Nov. 23, with offers having to remain valid until Thursday, Nov. 24, they said.

Shipment is sought in three periods: between Dec. 16-31, 2022, and in 2023 between Jan. 1-15 and Jan. 16-31.

Noting that up to 480,000 tonnes of milling wheat were purchased, in November, by Algeria’s state grains agency OAIC in an international tender, as declared by European traders quoted by nasdaq news website.

The bulk of the wheat was traded at between $367 to $368 a tonne.

Although technically supplies are optional origin, a significant part of the purchased wheat will be delivered from Russia, a small amount – from France, according to traders.
