ALGIERS – The Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Laid Rebiga represented, on Sunday in Luanda, the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, at the funeral of former Angolan President José Eduardo dos Santos, a Ministry’statement said on Saturday.
“The Minister of Mujahideen and Rights-holders represented the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune at the funeral of former Angolan President José Eduardo dos Santos, slated for Sunday August 28, 2022 in Luanda at 10:00 a.m.”, specified the same source.
The Angolan presidency announced on July 8 the death of José Eduardo dos Santos at the age of 79.
Dos Santos died at a clinic in Barcelona, Spain, following a long illness, the Angolan government said in an announcement on its Facebook page.
The announcement said dos Santos was “a statesman of great historical scale who governed … the Angolan nation through very difficult times.”
Dos Santos had mostly lived in Barcelona since stepping down in 2017 and had been undergoing treatment there for health problems.
