ALGIERS- The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) held, Thursday evening, April 15, 2021, its elective general assembly (AGE) at the Sheraton Club des Pins hotel, west of Algiers, in the presence of 88 members, at the end of which Mr. Amara CHARAF-EDDINE was elected by an absolute majority (75 votes for and 13 votes against) for the Olympic mandate 2021-2025.
Before the start of the work, the members present stood up to listen to the national anthem and honor the former glories of the National Liberation Front (FLN) team and members of the general assembly, which are MM Mohamed MAOUCHE, Abdelkrim KERROUM and Abdelhamid ZOUBA who each received from the hands of the outgoing president Mr. Khireddine ZETCHI a national team jersey stamped with their name and the number 63, symbolizing the 63rd anniversary of the creation of this team (April 13, 1958) .
After having elected the assessors and the members of the polling station from among the members of the general assembly, the president of the electoral commission (of candidatures) and president of the session, Mr. Abdelmadjid YAHI, invited the candidate Amara CHARAF-EDDINE to present HIS program of action to the members of the GA.
The voting operation took place under excellent conditions, in the presence of Me Sofiane SOUALAH, judicial officer, representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and those of the national media who covered the event.
At the end of the ballot, Mr. CHARAF-EDDINE HAS BEEN proclaimed new president.
Finally, the new president hosted a press briefing where he answered journalists’ questions at length.
