Covid-19: Partial lockdown measures in nine provinces

ALGIERS- In application of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense and at the end of consultations with the scientific committee for monitoring the evolution of the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID- 19) and the health authority, Prime Minister Abdelaziz DJERAD decided on the measures to be implemented under the system for managing the health crisis linked to the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).

Still in line with the objective of preserving the health of citizens and protecting them against any risk of the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and supported by the approach based on prudence, progressivity and flexibility, the partial lockdown measures, from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. the next day, have been extended in 09 provinces, for a period of fifteen (15) days, starting from Thursday April 16th, as decided the Prime Minister, Abdelaziz Djerad , in application of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, within the framework of the fight against the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19), ” indicated, Wednesday, a press release from the services of the Prime Minister.

These measures concern the following nine (09) provinces: “Batna, Biskra, Blida, Tebessa, Tizi-Ouzou, Algiers, Jijel, Sidi Bel Abbes and Oran,” specified the communicated.

According to the same source, the following forty-nine(49) provinces are not affected by these measures: Adrar, Chlef, Laghouat, Oum El Bouaghi, Bejaia, Béchar, Bouira, Tamenghasset, Tlemcen, Tiaret, Djelfa, Sétif, Saïda, Skikda , Annaba, Guelma, Constantine, Médéa, Mostaganem, M’Sila, Mascara, Ouargla, El Bayadh, Illizi, Bordj Bou Arréridj, Boumerdes, El Tarf, Tindouf, Tissemsilt, El Oued, Khenchela, Souk Ahras, Tipaza, Mila, Ain Defla, Naâma, Ain Temouchent, Ghardaia, Relizane, Timimoun, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Ouled Djellal, Beni Abbés, In Salah, In Guezzam, Touggourt, Djanet, El Meghaeir and El Meniaâ.

The walis/ Governors can, after agreement of the competent authorities, take any measures required by the health situation of each wilaya, in particular the establishment, modification or modulation of the partial or total lockdown measures targeted by a or several municipalities, localities or neighborhoods experiencing sources of contamination.

Regarding public gatherings:

The extension of the measure prohibiting, throughout the national territory, any type of gathering of people and family reunification, in particular the celebration of marriages and circumcision and other events such as; gatherings at cemeteries.

The extension of the prohibition measure concerning meetings and general assemblies organized by certain institutions.

The walis will ensure compliance with this ban and the application of regulatory sanctions against offenders as well as the owners of the places hosting these gatherings.

Finally, the Government reiterates its calls for caution and the mobilization of citizens to continue, relentlessly, the fight against the spread of this epidemic and overcome this health challenge “.
