Nearly 1,470 hectares (ha) were destroyed by forest fires from 1 June to 15 August 2018, said Thursday the General Directorate of Forests (DGF) in a statement.
The DGF reported that Eastern parts are the most affected by forest fires with 1001.25 ha and 100 households, followed by the Center (294.97 ha, 182 households) and the West (172.46). ha, 112 homes).
In the week of 9 to 15 August alone, 52 fireplaces, totaling 122.98 ha, were recorded.
According to the DGF, the mechanism for prevention and fight against forest fires, put in place since June 1, will be maintained until the end of the campaign, scheduled for October 31.
