FLN’s SG: Tamazight lge officialization, by President Bouteflika, preserved national unity

Secretary-General of National Liberation Front, Djamel Ould Abbas, praised, in a meeting held, on Wednesday, May, 16, 2018, the efforts exerted by the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, to officialize Amazigh language, a step that preserved national unity.

The official underscored the President’s achievements during the last two decades, which “no one can deny.”

“Nobody, be they ungrateful or unfair, can deny President Bouteflika’s achievements in the last two decades in all the fields of development and reforms,” said the Secretary General.

“At the political level, the President has maintained peace and stability despite the crises witnessed in many Arab countries as well as promoted the rights and liberties of people,” he said, pointing out that the policies introduced by the President Bouteflika, particularly, the national reconciliation, have united the Algerians.

“This unity has been demonstrated when Boufarik military plane crashed; all the Algerians were affected and helped one another regardless their origins,” stressed the SG.

Internationally, the official highlighted that the President of the Republic is the first Arab President who reacted to the invitation to hold an emergency meeting on Gaza massacre.

In this aspect, Ould Abbas recited Fatiha for the souls of the Palestinian martyrs who lost their lives in violent clashes with the Zionists following the relocation of US Embassy from Tel Aviv to the disputed city Al Quds.

“Algeria reiterated its full support to the Palestinian cause and to the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to establish their independent State with al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital,” added the same official.

“I reiterate Algeria’s firm and constant position in favour of the Palestinian people until the recovery of their national spoiled rights, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State with al-Quds as capital based on the borders of 1967,” added Ould Abbas.

On this sad occasion, the official paid tribute to the memory of the valiant martyrs of freedom, expressing his full solidarity with the grief-stricken Palestinian people.”

The Algerian Constitution of 2016 enshrines Tamazight as a national and official language of the country, alog with the establishment of an Algerian Tamazight Language Academy, which will be attached to Presidency of the Republic.

The amended Constitution stipulates in its article 4 that Tamazight is also a national and official language and that the State is to work for its promotion and development in all its linguistic varieties for its use nationwide.
