The Palestinian icon of the struggle against the Zionist occupation, the young Ahed Tamimi, accused of hitting Zionist soldiers, was sentenced Wednesday to eight months in prison, by a Zionist military court.

Ahed Tamimi, 17, who is considered an icon in the fight against the Zionist occupation by the Palestinians, will be released this summer, including the months she spent in custody for the December 2017 incident.

The Palestinians claimed that Ahed Tamimi was merely trying to drive Zionist soldiers away from the occupied territory, and that her arrest is evidence of Israel’s violation of children’s rights.

The European Union had expressed concern about the plight of minors detained in Zionist jails, including Ahed Tamimi.

Whilst, more than 2 000 Palestinian children were killed between 2000 and 2017 by the Zionist occupation forces, while the list of detained minors continues to grow, and hundreds of cases continue to be mistreated and abused in Zionist jails, in the eyes of the international community and the UN institutions, despite repeated calls for international law’s respect.

Between 2000 and 2017, Defense for Children International-Palestine (CPIP) reported that 2 022 Palestinian children were killed by Zionist forces, an average of 25 per month.
