Madrid, (SPS) “Spain remains the administering power of the territory of Western Sahara until its decolonization by allowing the Saharawi people to access their inalienable right to self-determination,” affirmed the representative of the Polisario Front in Spain, Abdellah El-Arabi.
In a statement made, Sunday, to the Spanish daily “El Mundo”, the Sahrawi diplomat underlined that “Spain is the administering power of the territory of Western Sahara until its decolonization”. “As long as the Saharawi people have not exercised their right to self-determination, Madrid will remain responsible for this situation as a legal obligations,” he added.
The official also castigated the policy of the Spanish government which is blatantly working to satisfy Morocco’s expansionist plans by trying to impose the illegal occupation of Western Sahara instead of assuming its responsibilities towards its people.
The reversal of the Spanish government illustrated in its decision of March 18 in favor of the so-called “autonomy”, constitutes a serious slippage, he explained, recalling that this decision had aroused criticism from the parliamentary forces having called on the Spanish government to review this position.
