The Chief of Staff of the ANP evoked, in his speech, “the specificities of the security challenges facing the African continent”, declaring in this regard: “Indeed, Africa rich in resources, with a growth population and considerable assets, such as; biodiversity, underground resources, energy and water reserves, is facing a complex situation of politico-economic instability caused by numerous security and economic challenges”.

“A context that requires the support and accompaniment of the international community”, he said, adding that “this fragile situation has destabilized a number of countries and impacted their economies and their security, making Africa the stronghold of criminal activities that spread the terrorist threat and multifaceted cross-border organized crime”.

The Army General stressed, in this regard, that “it is time for the international community to be aware of the importance of maintaining peace in the world, focusing on humanitarian security, while addressing the real causes of crises in the world in general and in Africa in particular”.

“I can confirm to you today that the experience acquired over the years during our fight against terrorism has proven to us that no country is immune to the terrorist threat and its ramifications, and that the fight against this phenomenon can never be the responsibility of a single country”, noted the General of the Army.

As such, “it is time for the international community to be aware of the importance of maintaining peace in the world by focusing on humanitarian security, by taking charge of the real causes of crises in the world in general and in Africa in particular and by strengthening military capacities, with a view to achieving the required effectiveness in the field of the fight against terrorism and cross-border organized crime”, he concluded.
