Sahrawi Republic, Republic of Colombia resume diplomatic relations

Bogota (Colombia) (SPS) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia announced, on Wednesday, its agreement with the Sahrawi Republic to resume their diplomatic relations, in line with the principles and objectives of the United Nations Charter and in accordance with the agreement concluded between the two countries on February 27, 1985.

This statement was issued after the President of the Republic of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, received Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, Saharawi Minister of Foreign Affairs and Special Envoy of the President of the Sahrawi Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, at the Presidential Palace in the capital, Bogota,.

The Sahrawi Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered a written message from the President of the Republic to his Colombian peer, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chair of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee from the Colombian side, and the Director of the Latin America and Caribbean Department of the Sahrawi Foreign Ministry, Amb. Mohamed Zrug.
