Air Algerie inaugurates new Algiers-Doha direct line

ALGIERS-The national airline Air Algerie, on Wednesday, inaugurated a new direct airline linking Algiers to the Qatari capital Doha.

The President and CEO of Air Algérie, Yacine Benslimane presided over the inauguration ceremony of this new airline in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport and the Algerian Ambassador to Qatar.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Benslimane said that the launch of this new line comes in application of the guidelines of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and as part of the strengthening of cooperation between Algeria and the State of Qatar.

It also intervenes in application of the transport development strategy adopted by the Government, he said.

The launch of the Algiers-Doha airline is also one of the axes of the commercial development plan of the national airline for 2025, which forecasts the launch of 15 new lines to African, European, Asian and South- American destinations, according to the explanations of the CEO of Air Algérie.

Announcing the programming of two weekly flights (Saturday and Thursday) on this line, Mr. Benslimane assured that “the flight program has been carefully studied to meet the needs of customers”.

An Airbus A330 with 251 seats (219 economy class, 14 premium class and 18 business class) will operate this inaugural flight. The plane is due to land on Thursday August 4 at Doha airport.

With the launch of this new line, the total number of lines provided by Air Algérie will reach 45 lines, according to statements by Mr. Benslimane.

The sale of tickets for the Algiers-Doha line began in the first week of July, online, at Air Algérie agencies and travel agencies.

The price of the return ticket is 64200 Da incl. VAT and 2200 Qatari rial. This is the “best offer” on the market for this line, assured the CEO of Air Algerie.

The national airline intends to attract, with the launch of this new connection, in addition to Algerian citizens, customers from African states wishing to travel to Doha, in particular economic operators.

For his part, the Algerian ambassador to Qatar, Mustapha Boutoura welcomed the launch of this line. “This is the result of the development experienced by Algerian-Qatari relations on more than one level, a development confirmed by the visit of the President of the Republic to Qatar last February,” he said.
