Army Chief Chanegriha receives Cameroon’s Minister Delegate at Presidency in charge of Defense

ALGIERS- The Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, General Said Chanegriha, received Sunday, at the headquarters of the General Staff of the People’s National Army, Cameroon’s Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic, in charge of Defense Josef Beti Assomo, who is on an official visit to Algeria, leading a large military delegation, the Ministry of National Defense said in a statement.

The ceremony began with “the salute to the national flag then a military salute to the Head of the host delegation addressed by the formations of the various forces of the Algerian Army”, added the press release.

Took part in this ceremony “Mr. Commanders of Forces and of the National Gendarmerie, the Heads of Departments and the Central Directors of the Ministry of National Defense and the General Staff of the ANP, as well as the members of the Cameroonian military delegation”.

After welcoming the host delegation, Army General Chanegriha underlined that “this visit will be the prelude to military cooperation which materializes the political will of the Heads of State of the two countries, in order to work to lay the foundations for a diversified cooperation that reflects the dynamics expected in bilateral relations,”underlined the same source.

“Your visit to our country today constitutes, without a doubt, the prelude to a military cooperation beneficial to our countries, apart from the security situation that our continent is experiencing,” said the Army General.

This visit “will also constitute proof of our determination to materialize the political will of the Heads of State of our two countries in order to work together to lay the foundations for diversified cooperation, based on frank exchange and mutual consultation to address issues of common interest,” he added.

“On this occasion, I am pleased to announce our full availability to consult on security aspects and exchange expertise in the field of military capacity building”, he continued.

For his part, Mr. Josef Beti Assomo “welcomed the will expressed by Algeria to strengthen the ties of cooperation and coordination with the Republic of Cameroon alongside other African countries, in order to preserve peace and stability through the entire African continent”.

At the end, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts, before Mr. Beti Assomo signed the Golden Book of the General Staff of the ANP, the statement concluded.
