ALGIERS- Customs services seized more than 9.3 million “Dexamethasone” tablets and more than 10,000 liters of fuel, a statement from the General Directorate of Customs said on Tuesday.

“As part of the joint efforts of the operational services of the Customs brigades, carried out in the field in coordination with the security services as part of the fight against the various forms of smuggling and attacks on the health and safety of citizens, the agents of the mobile brigade under the services of In Salah Customs’ Divisional Inspection carried out an operation which resulted in the seizure of 9,301,023 Dexamethasone tablets, hidden in fruits’ crates on board a truck and the arrest of two individuals, the statement read.

As part of another operation, officers from the Reggane Multipurpose Brigade, under the Customs’ Divisional Inspection, raided, in coordination with elements of the ANP and the National Gendarmerie, two suspicious warehouses. The operation allowed the seizure of 8200 liters of fuel oil and 2000 liters of gasoline concealed in 51 barrels, the statement concluded.
