ALGIERS – The Advisor to the President of the Republic, in charge of External Relations, Mr. Abdelhafid Allahoum, the Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Mr. Laid Rebigua, and the Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reforms, Mr. Abderrahmane Benbouzid paid a visit, on Thursday evening, to Moudjahid Youcef El Khatib, in order to inquire about the state of health of this figure of the war of national liberation.

This visit takes place “on the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at ensuring a good management of the concerns of the Mujahideen and the Rights-holders and to inquire about the symbols of the war of national liberation,” declared Mr. Rebigua.

This visit is “a recognition of the sacrifices of the figures of our history and those who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country”, he added, recalling similar visits to Moudjahida Djamila Boupacha and the Moudjahid Tahar Zbiri.

For his part, Mr. El Khatib expressed his gratitude to President Tebboune for “the particular interest he gives to the Mujahideen”, wishing him, on the occasion, “good health. On the other hand, Moudjahid Youcef El Khatib ensured “to be well medically followed” at the central hospital of the Army, Mohamed Seghir Nekkache of Ain Naadja (Algiers) due to his participation in the war of national liberation”.

In this vein, he hailed the inauguration by the President of the Republic, during the festivities celebrating the 60th anniversary of the recovery of national sovereignty, of the stele “Milestone of freedom”, in Sidi Fredj (Algiers), symbolizing the raising of the emblem of independent Algeria in 1962 and in which he participated.

Born in 1932 in Chlef, the Moudjahid Youcef El Khatib, known as “Si Hassan” is one of the illustrious figures of the Glorious War of National Liberation. From 1961 to independence, he took control of the historic Wilaya IV. In the early 2000s, he created the “Memory of Wilaya IV” Foundation, along with other Mujahideen.
