60th anniversary of Algeria’s independence celebrated in Pakistan


ISLAMABAD – The Algerian Embassy in Islamabad organized, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the recovery of national sovereignty, a ceremony in honor of the Algerian community established in Pakistan.

In a speech delivered on the occasion, the Algerian ambassador in Islamabad, Brahim Remani highlighted “the importance and dimensions of this historic event, reviewing the major strategic axes of the new Algeria, internally and externally, under the direction of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, since 2019”.

Recalling “the good historical relations linking Algeria and Pakistan, one of the first countries to support our glorious revolution, to recognize the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic (GPRA) in 1958 and to forge diplomatic ties with our country in October 1963 “, the Algerian diplomat indicated that the two sisterly countries “will celebrate, next year, the 60th anniversary of the establishment of promising diplomatic relations with more fruitful cooperation and progress”.

In addition, Mr. Remani published a press article entitled “Algeria, a glorious history and a new era” in English, in the daily “Pakistan Observer” and in Urdu in a local daily “Khabarine”, in which he highlighted “the economic assets of Algeria, its geostrategic importance, as well as the political orientations internally, in terms of inclusive development, and externally, in terms of enlargement and the establishment of links of friendship, cooperation and partnership with different countries”.
