ALGIERS- The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is set to attend the commemorative festivities of the 60th anniversary of Algeria’s independence, according to Palestine’s Ambassador to Algeria, Fayez Abu Eita.

Abu Eita said that President Abbas will participate in the festivities at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune; an invitation that reflects the depth and the extent of the historical bilateral Palestinian-Algerian relations as well as the interest of both leaderships in consolidating them.

During his visit, President Abbas is slated to discuss with his Algerian counterpart, President Tebboune, the means to further enhance bilateral relations, the latest developments regarding the annual summit of the Arab League, scheduled for November in Algeria, and the need to coordinate their positions in this regard.

Earlier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra received Palestine’s Minister of Social Development, Ahmed Majdalani, who took part in the General Assembly of the Union of Arab Economic and Social Council and Similar Institution, where he announced the participation of the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas in the festivities commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Independence of Algeria, on the occasion for which, he added, that the Palestinian State will issue a special postage stamp.
