ALGIERS- The security services of Algiers arrested, today, Wednesday, June 29th, 2022, the suspect in the murder of a nurse near Beni Messous Hospital in the capital, and seriously injuring another.
According to a statement by the security services of the capital Algiers, the suspect, 31 years old, lives in Algiers. The weapon of the crime was also recovered.
This came, less than 24 hours after the crime occurred, as an investigation was launched under the supervision of the competent prosecution.
The public prosecutor at the Bir Mourad Rais court ordered, on Tuesday, the opening of “an in-depth investigation” into the case of the assault of two nurses practicing at the CHU of Beni Messous (Algiers), including one having succumbed to his injuries.
“In application of the provisions of article 11 of the code of criminal procedure, the public prosecutor at the tribunal of Bir Mourad Rais informs the public opinion that the services of the Urban Security of Beni Messous received, on 28/06/2022 at 09:00, a call from the operations room of the Security of Algiers to go to the emergency department of the CHU of Beni Messous where two victims of stabbing were hospitalized at the level of the surgery department”, specified a press release from the public prosecutor.
“The judicial police services immediately went to the scene where it turned out that they were two women, the first responding to the initials + B.F. +, aged 32 and a nurse at the hospital of Beni Messous, was stabbed in the back and succumbed to her injuries upon arrival at the hospital. The second +Ch.S.+, aged 26, also a nurse at the same hospital, was also stabbed in the back with injuries to the hand and is currently in the surgical emergency department of Beni hospital Messous “, added the same communiqué.
“To this end, the judicial police services launched an in-depth investigation into the facts to define the identity of the criminal in order to bring him to justice. We also went to the scene to inquire about the circumstances of the crime, ”adds the Public Prosecutor.
“The preliminary investigations obtained from the statements of the victim +Ch.S.+ revealed that the attack took place when the two victims left their homes to go to their place of work at the University Hospital of Beni Messous, where the perpetrator attacked them suddenly with a bladed weapon and then fled”.
“Research and investigations are underway and public opinion will be informed of all the developments in this case,” concluded the same source.
