President Tebboune receives Algeria’s friend Mathieu Hill

ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune received at the headquarters of his residence, in Oran, the young American Mathieu Hill, a friend of Algeria who hopes to become US ambassador to Algeria some day, said the Presidency of the Republic.

“President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received in his residence in Oran, the American child, Mathew Hill, friend and lover of Algeria. Passionate about the Arabic language, he wishes to become his country’s Ambassador to Algiers,’ said the Presidency of the Republic on its official Facebook page.

Earlier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, fulfilled the dream of USA’s Florida native Matthew Hill by receiving him in Algeria before the official kick off of the Mediterranean Games by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

According to the head of diplomacy, Matthieu expressed the wish to pay a visit to Algeria by all means. Mr. Ramtane Lammara said on his official twitter account: “Glad that your dream of visiting Algeria has come true. Keep it high dear Matthew to achieve your ambition of becoming U.S Ambassador to Algeria.”

Foreign Minister also posted a photo of himself with the child, under the caption: “Welcome to Oran”.

The young American and members of his family arrived in Oran to attend, as guests of honor, the Mediterranean Games, which kicked off on Saturday evening.

Mathieu Hill was received, last year, at the Algerian Embassy in Washington.

“I am delighted to be in Algeria, this magnificent country. I was finally able to fulfill my dream,” he said.

As a reminder, the American child was invited to Algeria by the Algerian Ambassador to the United States, Ahmed Boutache. An invitation launched following the broadcast, by Matthew Hill, of a video where he proclaimed his love for Algeria, his passion for foreign policy and U.S. diplomacy, and dreams of being a foreign service officer. “I address this message to the United States Embassy in Algeria, to express my wish to become a diplomat and help strengthen relations between the United States and Algeria,” he said.
