Algeria-Azerbaijan parliamentary friendship group set up in Algiers

ALGIERS- Algeria-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group was set up, Sunday, in Algiers, “to bring the two sisterly countries closer together at the parliamentary level.”

The installation ceremony was supervised by the Vice-Speaker of the APN, in charge of external activity, Moundir Bouden in the presence of the charge d’affaires at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Algiers, Rafael Bagirov, the president of the friendship group, Gharbi Abdelbasset as well as the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community abroad, Lounes Taazibet.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bouden highlighted the bilateral relations binding both counties, their specificities and continuous development thanks to the permanent contact established between the two parties, calling “to achieve more rapprochement through the exchange of experiences and expertise, particularly at the parliamentary level”.

The Vice-Speaker of the APN underlined, in this wake, the “pivotal” role of parliaments in the examination of current international issues and those pending “in an era marked by international conflicts and regional alliances “.

“The installation of this group is part of the promotion of diplomatic action with a view to achieving greater rapprochement and raising bilateral cooperation to the level of relations between the two countries”, he continued.

For his part, the Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Azerbaijan, Mr. Bagirov highlighted “the quality of the historical relations linking the two countries, and their cooperation at the international level within the framework of regional and world organizations”.

For his part, the representative of the MFA, Lounes Taazibet said that this installation was able to consolidate the bilateral relations of friendship having experienced “a good quality” after the opening of diplomatic representations in the two countries since 2015. “These friendship relations have resulted in the establishment of a legal framework for cooperation and provided important opportunities for cooperation and exchange,” he added.

During the installation ceremony, the president of this friendship group, in this case, Mr. Abdelbasset Gharbi affirmed that “this mechanism constitutes a solid framework for consultation and exchange between the two brotherly peoples and the two sisterly countries, while providing ideal opportunities for the establishment of an expanded mutually beneficial partnership.”
