“As part of the follow-up of the implementation of the combat readiness programme 2021-2022 at the large units of the ANP deployed across the six Military Regions (RM), Lieutenant General Said Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the ANP, began this Monday, June 06, 2022, a working and inspection visit to the 3rd Military Region in Bechar, where he held an orientation meeting with the personnel of this Region and supervised the conduct of a night drill with live ammunition, at the level of the South Operational Sector of Tindouf,” the same source said.

Following the welcoming ceremony by Major General Mostefa Smaali, Commander of the 3rd Military Region, the Lieutenant General held, at the level of the South Operational Sector of Tindouf, a meeting by videoconference with the officers and personnel of the 3rd MR, where he delivered an address through which he stressed “the interest given by the High Command of the ANP in investing in human resources as a real asset on which any well thought-out approach is based.

” Deep changes in modern warfare prove inescapably that victory in battle does not only depend on the quality of the armaments and the sophistication of the weapon systems made available to the forces, but also and essentially on the state of mind of the soldier, on the quality of his training, on the level of his physical and psychological preparation and on his ability to take the relevant decisions in all circumstances, throughout the phases of the battle. As everyone knows, battles are won first and foremost in the hearts of men,” the Lieutenant General stressed.

In this regard, he added, the People’s National Army “has excellent human potential, whose psychological and moral characteristics allow them to be among the best soldiers to be reckoned with”, pointing out that “the Algerian man is the custodian of a historical legacy rich in glories and military achievements through the ages, and that the values of dignity, pride and freedom are deeply rooted in the collective consciousness”.

“To this end and in order to achieve the legitimate ambitions of the ANP, in terms of increase in power and operational readiness, the High Command has ensured, in accordance with the guidelines of the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, the winning investment in this human resource, as a real asset and cornerstone on which all approaches and strategies are based,” he said.

In this respect, the Lieutenant General underlined that “the success of the different levels of the drills effectively reflects the relevance of the real approach adopted in this framework, and which aims at preparing our Armed Forces to face any unforeseen event with merit and under any conditions and circumstances”.

“Based on this principle, the relevance of this objective approach for the promotion of the capacities of the human resource of the ANP, is reflected in particular by the success of the drills at different levels, carried out, each year, at the conclusion of the combat readiness programs of the Armed Forces,” he added.

For the Lieutenant General, “through these exercises, we aim at updating and adapting the combat readiness programmes to the new challenges, optimising the professional performance of the troops, all ranks and categories included, as well as improving the cognitive, psychic and physical capacities, to meet our supreme ambitions, in particular, the preparation of our Armed Forces to face any emergency situation with merit and in all circumstances”.

Following this orientation speech, the Lieutenant General followed the comments of the personnel of the 3rd Military Region and enquired about their concerns and suggestions.

At the same time, he “valued their sustained efforts at all levels, especially in the field of securing our national borders and the fight against organised crime and smuggling, as well as, he provided a set of recommendations and guidelines of a general nature,” concludes the statement.
