President Tebboune back in Algiers after State visit to Turkey

ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune returned to Algiers on Tuesday evening, after a three-day State visit to Turkey, at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The President of the Republic and the accompanying delegation were seen off, upon their departure at Istanbul International Airport, by the Vice President of Turkey, Fuat Oktay, and senior Turkish officials.

President Tebboune chaired, Tuesday in Istanbul, the opening ceremony of the Algeria-Turkey Business Forum.

The Forum, in which the Turkish Vice-President Fuat Oktay was in attendance, has been held with the participation of 300-plus economic operators from the two countries with a view to examining ways to further strengthen economic and commercial relations between Algeria and Turkey and increase the volume of investments between the two countries.

Before the start of the Forum, President Tebboune met with Algerian and Turkish businessmen during a meeting attended by the ministerial delegation accompanying the President, the Algerian Ambassador to Turkey and the Ambassador of Turkey in Algeria.

President of the Republic was awarded an honorary doctorate in international relations by the University of Istanbul, “in recognition of his efforts in terms of international and regional cooperation and the development of relations between Algeria and Turkey”.

The second day of the State visit by the President of the Republic to Turkey was marked by the holding of rich and in-depth talks between the Heads of State of the two sisterly countries and the signing of several cooperation agreements and memoranda agreement to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields.

After the solemn warm welcome reserved for President Tebboune by his Turkish counterpart at the Presidential Compound in Ankara, the two Presidents held one-to-one talks, extended to delegations from the two countries.

Presidents Tebboune and Erdogan subsequently co-chaired the work of the first session of the High-Level Cooperation Council between the two countries, and co-signed the Joint Declaration of the first meeting of this Council.
