CHLEF- Industry Minister Ahmed Zeghdar said, Thursday from Chlef, that his services were working in coordination with the private sector to increase steel production with the aim to lower prices.

Responding to a question from the press, on the sidelines of a working and inspection visit to the wilaya of Chlef, on the rise in steel prices and its impact on the construction and public works sector, the Minister indicated that his department was working to increase the production of this metal at the level of private companies like “Tosyali” in order to lower and stabilize prices.

He mentioned the Algerian-Qatari partnership project which he dubbed as “promising”, noting that the recent visit of the President of the Republic to Qatar “is part of the process of extending this profitable activity to strategic dimension as well as the structuring of the steel complex of El-Hadjar which is experiencing a dynamic in terms of production capacity”.

“The price of Algerian steel is a competitive price on world exchanges. Prices are impacted by the principle of supply and demand,” he explained.

On a working visit to Chlef, the Minister of Industry inquired about the activity of the third cement production line, before visiting a number of industrial companies in the municipalities of Oued Sly and Sidi Okacha, then the industrial zone of Boukadir. He also visited public and private industrial enterprises.
