ALGIERS-The economic and financial criminal pole of the tribunal of Sidi M’hamed (Algiers) adjourned, Wednesday, to March 9, the trial of the accused in the case of the agri-food group “Benamor”.
The trial was adjourned due to the absence, for health reasons, of former Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, prosecuted in the Benamor case.
Prosecuted in the case of the Benamor group, are several former officials, including former Prime Ministers Ahmed Ouyahia and Abdelmalek Sellal, and the former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Rachid Benaissa. The charges brought against them are squandering public funds, money laundering, obtaining undue advantages and illegal exploitation of agricultural land.
