ALGIERS – The Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry eyes to export €50 million of drugs and pharmaceutical products in 2022, said the sector’s minister, Abderrahmane Djamel Lotfi Benbahmed.
“We have already drawn provisional import programs and set up that of the export. We plan to export €50 million of drugs and pharmaceutical products in 2022. I hope we will go further “, explained Mr. Banbahmed, Wednesday evening, on National Television.
He nevertheless underlined that the export of the drug is a “fairly complex affair” and that it is also a question of “fundamental work” that had already begun, in particular by the establishment of a regulatory mechanism to support Algerian operators.
The Minister clarified, in this sense, that exporting includes, among other things, intersectoral issues inherent in the Ministries of Trade and Finance, hence the establishment of joint committees.
“This system will allow both the industrial transfer of pharmaceutical products and the export project for local operators as well as for multinationals”, further detailed Mr. Benbahmed.
In addition, the minister said that the local integration rate reached 62% in 2021, estimating that it “will reach or even exceed 70% in 2022”.
