Tribunal of Sidi M’hamed: Trial of Benamor group adjourned due to illness of former PM Sellal


ALGIERS- The economic and financial criminal pole of the tribunal of Sidi M’hamed (Algiers) adjourned, on Wednesday, to February 16, the trial of the accused in the case of the agri-food group “Benamor”.

The adjournment of this trial comes following the absence of a witness for health reasons, in this case the former Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sellal, indicated the president of the session.

Up to twenty defendants are being prosecuted in this case, including the businessman Amor Benamor as well as the former Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia and the former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Rachid Benaissa, for squandering of public funds, money laundering, obtaining undue privileges and illegal exploitation of agricultural land.
