Algerian FM Lamamra in Addis Ababa to attend Ordinary Session of AU Executive Council


ALGIERS- Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra arrived, Tuesday, in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), to participate in the work of the 40th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU), bringing together the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of member countries, said the ministry in a statement.

“This session, which will be held on February 2 and 3 at the AU headquarters, will be devoted to the examination of a series of questions relating to bilateral cooperation between African countries in order to face the various security challenges imposed by the economic situation, in addition to the fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic on the economic and health situation,” the statement said.

“It will also discuss the reports of the activities of the various mechanisms and sectoral commissions of the Executive Council, in addition to the renewal of the membership of many main structures”, noted the source.

This session will also focus on the preparation of the 35th ordinary session of African Heads of State and Government, which will be held on February 5 and 6.

In addition to his participation in the works of the Executive Council, Mr. Lamamra will hold several meetings with his African counterparts on coordination and the pursuit of our country’s efforts to preserve the unity of the African organization.
