Justice/ Corruption: Trial of defendants in case of “Benamor” group adjourned

ALGIERS- The Economic and Financial Criminal Pole of the tribunal of Sidi M’hamed (Algiers) decided on, Wednesday, to adjourn, to January 26, the trial of the accused in the case of the agri-food group “Benamor”, at the request of the accused because of the lawyers’ strike.

This trial had already been adjourned at the request of the defense collective.

The owners of the group as well as twenty defendants, including former Prime Ministers Ahmed Ouyahia and Abdelmalek Sellal, are being prosecuted in this case for squandering public funds, money laundering, obtaining undue privileges and illegal exploitation of agricultural land.

The Penal Pole also decided to adjourn, to January 26, the trial of the former wali/ Governor of Médéa, Mustapha Layadi, prosecuted, in another case, for illegally granting land.
