ALGIERS- Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra was received Monday, in Cairo, by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, as part of his working visit to Egypt in his capacity as the personal envoy of President of the Republic, said a ministerial statement.
On this occasion, “Mr. Lamamra conveyed to President Al-Sisi a message from his brother President Abdelmadjid Tebboune as well as his best regards and wishes for progress and prosperity, peace and stability for Egypt, “ read in the communiqué.
The meeting, which took place in the presence of the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shukri, constituted “an opportunity to review the historical bilateral relations based on cooperation and solidarity as well as the prospects for strengthening them in various fields by the concretization of the firm will of the leaders of the two countries”.
The two sides discussed the prevailing situation on the Arab scene, including the Palestinian cause and the Libyan crisis, as well as the role of the two countries in promoting joint Arab action. They also addressed the latest developments on the continental scene and the importance “of joint coordination in order to defend the values and principles of the African Union (AU)”, noted the press release.
In this regard, the two parties welcomed the convergence of the views of the two brotherly countries vis-à-vis the crises affecting the Arab world and the African continent, a position confirming the depth of the strategic relations linking the two countries and their political will to achieve stability and unify the ranks”, pointed out the same source.
At the end of the meeting, the Egyptian president instructed Mr. Lamamra to convey his “warm and fraternal” greetings to President Tebboune, expressing “his wish to meet him in person to further enhance the Algerian-Egyptian strategic partnership with a view to responding to the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples and strengthening the constructive role of the two countries on the international scene”.
