Prof. Khelladi Sidi Mohamed Bouchnak takes office as CNESE President

ALGIERS-Professor Khelladi Sidi Mohamed Bouchnak took office, Thursday, as President of the National Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CNESE), in replacement of Professor Redha Tir, said the council in a statement.

“The director of cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic, Mr. Abdelaziz Khellaf chaired, Thursday, January 13, 2022, the installation ceremony of the new president of the National Economic, Social and Environmental Council, Pr. Khelladi Sidi Mohamed Bouchnak, in replacement of Professor Rhéda Tir,” read a statement posted on the Council’s Facebook page.

In a speech delivered on this occasion, Mr. Khellaf recalled the “constitutional mission of the Council”, welcoming the actions accomplished by Prof. Tir during his term as President of the CNESE, stressing that he “took office in a difficult period”.

The director of cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic underlined that the Council wants to be “a space involving all the actors of society in order to reflect on economic, social and environmental policies and to ensure that they are consistent with the general policy of the State, particularly with regard to the President’s program and his 54 commitments”.

For his part, Prof. Bouchnak expressed his “gratefulness to the President of the Republic for the trust he has placed in him”, expressing the wish to be “at the height of the responsibility”.

He also reviewed the Council’s missions, at the to of which the formulation of forward-looking proposals and recommendations with a view to supporting President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s program, thanks to the competence of its executives and experts who work, tirelessly, to achieve these objectives”.
