Mudjaheed Othmane Belouizdad laid to rest

ALGIERS- A crowd of relatives, friends, high-ranking officials and citizens accompanied the mudjaheed Othmane Belouizdad, who passed away at the age of 92, to his final resting place in the Sidi M’hamed cemetery of Algiers.

The late was the last member of the historic Group of 22 who had planned the outbreak of the Glorious Revolution of November 1954.

Earlier, President Tebboune offered a message of condolences to the family of mujaheed Othmane Belouizdad. Pt. Tebboune said in his message of condolence: “I learned with grief and sorrow, the death of the late Mujahid as we bid farewell today to one of the pioneer comrade in arms of the heroic martyrs, one of those who ignited the sparkle of the November revolution, we stand with reverence and appreciation for their massive sacrifices and their high patriotic qualities, and we pay tribute to the liberation struggle and the path of the great armed struggle that the Algerian people led with courage and bravery, inspired by the valiant leaders of the revolution and the highest meanings of loyalty and sacrifice for Algeria”.

He concluded by saying: “In this painful circumstances, I extend to the family of the deceased and his fellow Mujahideen my sincerest condolences and the heartfelt feelings of sympathy, praying Allah the Almighty to grant the deceased His Holy mercy, and welcome him in his paradise next to his brothers the martyrs”.

For his part, the Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), Lieutenant General Saïd Chenegriha sent a message of condolence to the family of the mujaheed.

“Following the death of Moudjahid Othmane Belouizdad, last member of the historic group of 22, the Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, Lieutenant General Saïd Chenegriha presents in his name and on behalf ANP staff, his most saddened condolences, while expressing his deep compassion to the family of the late,” read the message of condolence.

“El moudjahid was one of those who planned the outbreak of the Glorious Revolution of November 1st, 1954, and left their mark on the history of contemporary Algeria and sacrificed their lives for the homeland”, added Mr. Chanegriha, praying ” Allah Almighty to grant the deceased His Holy Mercy, welcome him in His vast paradise and to lend patience and comfort to his family “. “Surely to Allah we belong and to him we should return,” he concluded.
