ALGIERS- The port of Algiers received, Monday, the Port Connectivity Award given by the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry as part of the International Exhibition of Transport and Logistics “Logistical 2021.”
The award ceremony recorded the presence of the Minister of Transport, Aissa Bekkai, representatives of CACI and national ports as well as several diplomatic representatives.
The second prize, awarded to the port with the best growth in connectivity, was given to the port of Annaba, while the third award “best exporter” was dedicated to the port of Arzew.
During this ceremony, the Minister of Transport recalled the importance of infrastructures and means of transport and logistics in the stability of the world and national economy, while underlining the efforts aimed at “giving a new impetus to the strategic role of this sector, considered to be the backbone of commercial and economic activity “.
Mr Bekkai said, in this context, that the ministry is working to develop transport through all its modes, in particular via the Serport group for the development of national ports so that they meet international standards.
“In addition, we have many requests for private investment in the freight transport sector. After their validation, this will change the reality of transport,” he added.
Noting that the International Transport and Logistics Fair “Logistical 2021” is being held from November 22 to 25 in Algiers.
Organized by the CACI at the Pins Maritimes exhibition fair, under the theme “the digitization of the logistics chain”, the exhibition brings under one roof more than 70 exhibitors.
