ALGIERS- The President of the Republic, Chairman of the High Judicial Council, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, supervised this morning, Sunday, at the Supreme Court, the opening ceremony of the new judicial year 2021/2022.
The opening ceremony took place in the presence of the speaker of the Council of the Nation (upper house of Parliament), Salah Goudjil, the speaker of the People’s National Assembly (lower house of Parliament), Brahim Boughali, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Aïmene Benabderrahmane, the Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, Lieutenant General Said Chanegriha, Minister of Justice and the Keeper of the Seals, Abderrachid Tabi and members of the government and senior State officials.
The justice sector is now facing many issues and challenges, and this following the 2020 constitutional amendment initiated by President Tebboune, which aims to strengthen judicial independence.
To this end, the sector is committed to adapting regulatory texts to the Constitution, by revising the organic laws on the status of judges and the CSM, and revising the code of ethics, similarly with the creation of specialized centers for economic and financial affairs and the fight against cyber-crime.
The Ministry is also working to adopt a comprehensive reform and develop the Department of Justice through the generalization of digitization and the revision of working methods, in order to ensure a transparent management of judicial courts and to set up a modern and effective justice system.
