Tipasa court upholds jail term for Amira Bouraou

ALGIERS- The Tipaza court upheld the 2-year prison sentence handed down at first instance against Amira Bouraoui for insulting the precepts of Islam, and the President of the Republic.

On May 4, 2021, the Chéraga tribunal sentenced activist Amira Bouraoui to two years in prison for insulting the precepts of Islam.

Amira Bouraoui also insulted the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and disseminated publications on social media, likely to undermine public order.
