President Tebboune gives instructions to complete facilities of Great of Mosque of Algiers “Djamaâ El-Djazair”

Presiding, Sunday, a meeting of the Council of Ministers, the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, Abdelmadjid Tebboune gave instructions on the completion of the facilities of the Geat Mosque of Algiers “Djamaâ El-Djazair” and their full equippment in compliance with the quality standards required for this spiritual establishment, specified the same source.

It should be noted that the file of the management and maintenance of Djamaâ El-Djazair had been the subject of a presentation, presented last April in the Council of Ministers, by the Minister of Religious Affairs and Wakfs, following which the president of the Republic had ordered to carry out an in-depth study on it.

The statement added that: “After the initial approval of the proposed texts for organizing the Mosque of Algiers at the scientific and administrative levels and placing it under the aegis of the Prime Ministry services, instructions were given to raise the level of training the administrators, and the executives charged with serving this building in cooperation with various partners with experience in running similar facilities.”

The Great Mosque of Algiers features the world’s tallest minaret, at 265m, offering a 20,000 square metre prayer hall, capable of accommodating up to 120,000 worshippers, and a 50m diameter dome.

The Mosque includes a one‐million book library, a Koranic school and a museum of Islamic art and history. There will also be commercial buildings, a restaurant, library, amphitheatre, plaza and underground parking with a capacity for 7,000 cars at the site.
