Metro traffic resumed with more locomotives to prevent covid-19 spread- Video


ALGIERS- Algiers metro resumed, today, Thursday, activities amid precautionary measures to limit the spread of the Coronavirus epidemic.

The first day of the metro’s return to service witnessed a large turnout of citizens who breathed a sigh of relief, as this means of transportation made it easier for them.

Minister of Transport, Aissa Bekkaï, announced, on Tuesday, the increase in the number of locomotives of Algiers Metro in view of the prevention against the covid-19.

This measure was taken to reduce pressure on this mode of transport and, thus, stem the spread of covid-19, said Mr. Bekkai who was on an inspection visit of Algiers Metro expansion work.

The Minister has given, “firm” instructions to enforce compliance with the health protocol in the lines of the Algiers Metro.

The increase in the number of locomotives should reduce travel time and the duration of trips.
