Algerian FM holds working session with UN SG; range of issues on agenda

NEW YORK (United Nations) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, held a working session, in New York on Saturday, with the UN SG Antonio Guterres, during which both sides discussed the latest developments in the region, including Algeria’s efforts to promote peaceful solutions to the crises in Libya, Mali and the Sahel region as well as decolonization in Western Sahara.

“I held a working session with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, during which we discussed the latest developments in the region, including Algeria’s efforts to promote peaceful solutions to the crises in Libya, Mali and in the Sahel and Sahara region, “said the Algerian foreign minister in a Tweet.

“We also reviewed the challenges facing the decolonization process in Western Sahara,” added Mr. Lamamra.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, in New York.
