Premier begins presentation of Government’s Action Plan to Council of Nation members

ALGIERS - The Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, on Tuesday, began the presentation of the Government's Action Plan for the implementation of the President of the Republic's program, in front of the members of the Council of Nation, during the a plenary session, chaired by Mr. Salah Goudjil, Speaker of the upper house of Parliament.

ALGIERS – The Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, on Tuesday, began the presentation of the Government’s Action Plan for the implementation of the President of the Republic’s program, in front of the members of the Council of Nation, during the a plenary session, chaired by Mr. Salah Goudjil, Speaker of the upper house of Parliament.

This presentation will be followed by the opening of the debate led by members of the Council of Nation on the Government’s Action Plan and will continue the next day with speeches by the presidents of the parliamentary groups represented on the Council.

The Prime Minister will respond to questions and comments from members of the Council of Nation on Wednesday afternoon, before Council members adopt a motion on the Government’s Action Plan.

Adopted last Thursday at the People’s National Assembly (APN) by 318 deputies out of the 380 present, while 65 others voted against, the Action Plan is composed of five chapters, namely the consolidation of the rule of law and the renovation of governance, economic recovery and renewal, human development and a strengthened social policy, a dynamic and proactive foreign policy, as well as the strengthening of national security and defense.

In this context, the government undertakes to promote a reformed governance for more performance and transparency, an efficient and transparent management of public finances, budgetary, accounting, land and customs reforms.

It also undertakes to work for the moralization of public life and the prevention and fight against corruption, as well as the modernization of the administration and the public service.

On the economic front, the government plans to consolidate the levers of economic recovery, the modernization of the banking and financial system, the reform of the commercial public sector (SPM) and the governance of public enterprises.
