ALGIERS- The trial of the former Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Imane Houda Feraoun was adjourned to next October 4th, by the judge of the economic and financial penal division of the tribunal of Sidi M’Hamed of Algiers, following the request of the public treasury and defense lawyers.

As a reminder, the former minister who was placed in pre-trial detention on December 8, 2020, is being prosecuted for charges related to corruption including the squandering of public funds, granting undue privileges and abuse of power.

Several officials from the ministry and public enterprises in the Post and Telecommunications sector are also involved in this affair during the period of management by Imane Houda Feraoun.

The investigation revealed that the minister and her team had violated applicable laws. The minister and her staff acted against the public interest when Algeria Telecom entered into an agreement with international economic concessionaires for the “FTTH” broadband telephone line.
