Forest Fires: In-kind compensation, for 1,500 livestock breeders, completed

ALGIERS- Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Algeria completed, Thursday, the process of in-kind compensation for all farmers, estimated at more than 1,500 ones, affected by the fires that hit, last August, some provinces of the country , according to a representative of the ministry.

ALGIERS- Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Algeria completed, Thursday, the process of in-kind compensation for all farmers, estimated at more than 1,500 ones, affected by the fires that hit, last August, some provinces of the country , according to a representative of the ministry.

The same official added that the ministry succeeded in “closing the file of compensation for livestock breeders affected by the fires” by handing them in-kind compensation represented in heads of cows, sheep and goats, declaring that Guelma represents the last station to compensate this category of the affected.

The same source stated that the breeders affected by the recent fires, who were included in the compensation process, are distributed across 6 provinces of the country, namely; Tizi Ouzou, Bejaïa, Jijel, Skikda, Bouira and Guelma, noting that the largest share of compensation was in the province of Tizi Ouzou, representing 600 dairy cows, 3000 sheep and 2500 goats in view of the losses caused by the fires.

The Minister pointed out that the process of compensating farmers was carried out in record time, in implementation of the orders of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the instructions of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Abdel Hamid Hamdani, to “accelerate the compensation of those affected by the fires.”
