ALGIERS- Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, stressed Algeria’s firm stances on the crises that a number of Arab countries are going through at this stage, describing it as the most dangerous and difficult in the contemporary history of the Arab world, causes great concern and growing frustration among the Arab citizen from the ocean to the Gulf.
This came in his statement during his participation today in Cairo in the meeting of Arab foreign ministers, whose work is focused on studying a number of current political issues in the Arab world, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue.
Lamamra pointed to the danger of the approach adopted by some countries to make alliances with the historical enemy, in order to achieve immediate gains and harm the neighbor, noting that such actions will only generate more tension in the region, before adding that they negatively affect the treatment of the first and basic issue of the Arab nation, which is the Palestinian issue, at a time when the latter needs more support.
Algeria welcomed the signs of easing Libyan crisis, and the progress made by the political process in this country, stressing the continuation of efforts to support the Libyan brothers and enable them to achieve the desired stability, recalling the outcomes of the ministerial meeting held recently in Algeria, and the importance of the role and contribution of neighboring countries.
Algeria renewed its firm stances not to interfere in the internal affairs of states and to be guided by dialogue in order to communicate to achieve peaceful and consensual solutions that preserve the unity and sovereignty of Arab countries, and achieve the legitimate aspirations of their peoples.
Lamamra also reiterated the inevitability of carrying out the necessary reforms in the system of joint Arab action, stressing that Algeria’s position on reforming and developing the League of Arab States, which stems from a comprehensive approach, takes into account the challenges and risks facing Arab national security, and that Algeria, remains very careful to participate in this reform and necessary work, and with the same determination, Algeria will work to make the next Arab summit, which it will be honored to host, a milestone and a shining beacon for the course of its joint work, while providing all conditions for the success of this important Arab event.
