ALGIERS- The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, was received, Tuesday, in Nouakchott, in his capacity as a special envoy of the President of the Republic, by the Mauritanian President, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, according to a statement by the ministry.
Lamamra conveyed to the Mauritanian President, “the fraternal greetings and an oral message from his brother, the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune. In his turn, Pt. El Ghazouani entrusted Mr. Lamamra with conveying “his sincere greetings and deep appreciation to his brother, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune,” the statement added.
The meeting constituted, according to the same statement, “an opportunity to examine bilateral relations and to stress the brotherly and historical ties that unite the two sisterly countries and brotherly peoples.
Moreover, “the talks tackled the current situation at the Maghreb and Arab levels, as well as the common challenges in the Sahel and Sahara region and ways and means to strengthen the tradition of consultation and coordination regarding African and Arab issues of common interest, especially the upcoming Arab summit, scheduled to be held in Algeria.”
