Libyan cause: Algerian FM Lamamra tackles Libyan cause with Arab League SG


ALGIERS- The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, held, Monday in Algiers, a meeting with the Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, during which the latest developments in Libya have been brought up.

“I address my thanks to my friend Ramtane Lamamra, to whom I expressed, as soon as he mentioned this meeting on Libya during his visit to the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, my availability to participate in this commendable Algerian initiative aimed at reuniting the neighboring countries of Libya, “Aboul Gheit told reporters after his meeting with Mr. Lamamra.

“Our brothers in Libya, the Libyan society and the Libyan state need a sincere effort of all the brothers to achieve the agreement in Libya,” added the secretary general of the Arab League, saying that “progress has been recorded in the field since the first Berlin conference “.

Mr Aboul Gheit hoped that this meeting “will help achieve the objective of holding elections and establishing stability in Libya”.

The meeting was an opportunity “to examine Arab and African issues”, he pointed out, stressing that “Algeria has its role and its weight and we always wish it success”.

“We will be honored to meet President Abdelmadjid Tebboune,” concluded Mr. Aboul Gheit.
