Crisis in Libya: Algerian FM Lamamra discusses latest developments with UN envoy Jan Kubis

ALGIERS- The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra received, Sunday in Algiers, the UN Special Envoy for Libya, Jan Kubis, with whom he discussed the prospects for peace in Libya on the eve of a meeting of Libya’s neighboring countries, scheduled over two days in Algiers.

In a statement to the press at the end of this meeting, Jan Kubis indicated that Algeria’s initiative to reunite Libya’s neighboring countries is “important and timely”, underlining an “important step” in the settlement of the Libyan crisis.

The UN envoy expressed the wish “to have a pragmatic and honest dialogue on how to help Libya and the region move towards stability, prosperity and cooperation” .

On the Libyan issue “the questions and concerns are interrelated,” said Jan Kubis, who called for taking advantage of Libya’s consultations and cooperation with neighboring countries and international organizations for a way out of the crisis in Libya.
