Algeria FM, AU Commissioner for Peace, Security: Libya, continental files brought up

ALGIERS- The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, held, Sunday in Algiers, a meeting with the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the African Union, Bankole Adeoye, with which he discussed the crisis in Libya and several other African issues.

ALGIERS- The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, held, Sunday in Algiers, a meeting with the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the African Union, Bankole Adeoye, with which he discussed the crisis in Libya and several other African issues.

In a press statement following these discussions, Commissioner Adeoye praised the leadership of Mr. Lamamra, expressing his “deep gratitude” to the Minister for his pan-African initiative for the restoration of peace in Libya and to which the African Union is called upon to contribute to.

According to the head of the AU PSC, his meeting with the Algerian foreign minister provided the opportunity to discuss several African and regional issues, including in North Africa.

The meeting between Lamamra and Adeoye comes on the eve of an important meeting of Libya’s neighboring countries which is expected to discuss a roadmap for the holding of elections in this country.
