ALGIERS – The new Minister of Industry, Ahmed Zeghdar, on Thursday, took up his new functions, replacing Mohamed Bacha, following the announcement of the component of the new Government headed by Aïmene Benabderrahmane.
The handover ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry in the presence of sector executives.
On this occasion, the new minister addressed his thanks to the President of the Republic “for the confidence placed in his person”.
Qualifying his new mission at the head of the sector of “heavy responsibility”, Mr. Zeghdar indicated that “industry is the locomotive of economic growth and the showcase of the sovereignty of the State, ……”it is also a factor of response to the needs of citizens” , he added.
The new minister reviewed the main lines of his action plan, aimed at giving new impetus to the sector, in particular by “relaunching large public industrial companies and important industrial groups as well as the management of industrial and activity zones and competitive poles “.
After affirming that he will spare no effort so that “our industrial companies achieve creativity and technological innovation capable of strengthening their competitiveness”, Mr. Zeghdar added: “we will opt for the development of our start-ups innovative in the sector and the sustainability and protection of companies “.
At the end of his speech, the new Minister of Industry pledged to grant all industrial players the freedom of economic initiative, whether public or private, with a view to boosting the sector with the support of the state.
