ALGIERS- Algeria’s Embassy in France reaffirmed Tuesday, in a communiqué, that no prior authorization is required to enter the country, recalling that the booking and purchase of tickets are the responsibility of commercial services of the national airline Air Algérie.

“Algerian nationals are informed that, following the partial reopening of the borders and the resumption of commercial flights since 1 June 2021, access to the national territory is not subject to any prior authorisation,” the statement said.

Also, as the repatriation operation ended on 28 February 2021, the embassy and the Consular Representations in France “are no longer in charge of the management of cross-border travel operations”, the statement said.

From now on, explained the same source, ‘the reservation and purchase of tickets, as well as the cost of lockdown, are the sole responsibility of the commercial services of the national airliner (Air-Algérie) or of other foreign airlines, when commercial flights to our country are scheduled.

With regard to requests for exemption from payment of lockdown fees for the categories of students and elderly people with low incomes, the Consular Posts in France “will continue to ensure the verification of the eligibility of our fellow citizens to claim this measure decided by the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune”, added the same source.

“It is agreed that this operation does not in any way imply a reservation with Air Algerie,”, the embassy said.
