ALGIERS- More than 731,000 candidates will take the baccalaureate examination 2021 in 2,528 centers that have been prepared throughout the national territory.
According to the figures provided by the National Office for Examinations and Competitions (ONEC), the number of candidates sitting for this exam, scheduled for June 20 to 24, stands at 731,723, including 459,545 schooled candidates (180,833 boys and 278,712 girls) and 272,178 free ones (140,099 boys and 132,079 girls).
Also, 5,084 inmates will take the baccalaureate exams, an increase of 59% compared to the previous session (2020). These are 4,977 male inmates and 107 fmales spread across 47 penitentiary establishments approved by the Ministry of National Education as examination centers.
As long as the correction centers are concerned, they will open their doors from July 1 until July 19, added ONEC. A single national center will be mobilized for the announcement of the results.
As a reminder, the success rate of the BAC / session 2020 had reached 55.30%.
For the internet shut down, the Ministry of National Education announced on Friday, June 18, 2021, its decision not to block social media websites and shut down internet service during the baccalaureate exam, which will begin June 20, 2021.
For the first time after 5 years of application of the same procedure, the Ministry announced the installation of a “vigilance cell”, which will control the various websites and social networks including Facebook with a view to flashing out and identifying the people responsible for the topics’ leak.
Earlier, Algeria used to block internet in an attempt to prevent cheating in high school exams known as the Baccalaureate exams, after massive online leaks of the baccalaureate topics in the previous years.
