ALGIERS- The head of the National Independent Authority for Elections, Mohamed Charfi, said Saturday that 922 violations of election rules were recorded by his body in terms of respect of the health protocol related to the fight of the Covid-19, as part of the campaign for the legislative elections of June 12th, with 776 formal notices and 45 reporting to the public prosecutor in 45 cases.
Following the announcement of the voter turnout rate in the legislative elections recorded at around 4:00 p.m., Mr. Charfi said that “the number of activities organized as part of the legislative campaign has increased, amounting to 16,332 ones, including 4,899 meetings, 11,473 outreach actions and 418 meetings chaired by party leaders “, stressing that” 992 overruns of election rules were recorded by his body in terms of respect of the health protocol related to the fight of the Covid-19, with 776 formal notices and 45 reporting to the public prosecutor in 45 cases.
It is worth recalling that the average turnout in the legislative elections neared 30.20% nationwide at the closure of polling stations at 08:00 p.m., as announced, Saturday evening, by the Chairman of the Independent National Authority for Elections (ANIE) Mohamed Charfi.
Six (6) provinces recorded a turnout exceeding 50% including two provinces with 74%, while 3 provinces recorded between 40% and 50% and 14 others between 30% and 40%.
A 25% turnout was reported in 5 provinces and 20%-25% in 7 provinces.
According to Charfi, 22 provinces recorded the participation of over 100,000 voters.
These rates remain “provisional” pending further details on the conduct of the election that will be given later, he said.
