ALGIERS- The voting operation for the legislative elections has been extended by one hour (from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.) across all the provinces of the country, announced the Chairman of the Independent National Authority of elections (ANIE), Mohamed Chorfi.
The last voter turnout reached 14,47% at 16:00.
The voting operation extended by one hour in all of the country’s provinces.
According to the organic law on the electoral regime, “voting takes place in one day. Polling stations open at 8:00 am and closed the same day at 7:00 pm.
However, if necessary, the president of the Independent Authority may, at the request of the coordinator of the provincial delegation, push the closing hours of the polling stations until 8:00 p.m.”
More than 24 million voters were called to the polls to elect the 407 deputies of the next National People’s Assembly.
