Covid-19 latest figures in Algeria, May 22nd

ALGIERS- Two hundred and seventeen (217) new confirmed cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19), 164 recoveries and 6 deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours in Algeria, the Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform said, on Saturday,in a press release.

ALGIERS- Algeria recorded, this Saturday, May 22, 2021, a significant drop in the number of Covid-19 infections over the past 24 hours, according to the latest report, made public, by the scientific committee monitoring the evolution of the epidemicin the country.

Two hundred and seventeen (217) new confirmed cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19), 142 recoveries and 6 deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours in Algeria, the Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform said, on Saturday,in a press release.

Tothis end, the total number of the confirmed cases of Coronavirus, thus, stands at 126,651, that of deaths at 3,411 cases, while the number of cured patients has reached 88,208 cases, the statement pointed out . In addition, 22 patients are currently in intensive care, added the same source.

Algeria received Friday, at Houari Boumediene International Airport, a batch of 758,400 anti-Covid-19 vaccine doses as part of the World Health Organization (WHO) Covax program.

The Pasteur Institute received a batch of 170,000 doses of vaccine last Wednesday and expects to receive another 500,000 doses next Monday, bringing the total number of doses received in one week to 1,428,400.

According to the Health, Population and Hospital Reform Ministry, a “large” batch of this vaccine is expected to be delivered in June, which will cover the high demand from citizens.

The Ministry of Health launched a vaccination campaign at the end of January after establishing a digital platform for citizens to register to be vaccinated.
